Sant Lluis is a traditional Menorcan town, very close to the south coast just a few kilometres from the capital of Mahon. The coast line is home to the stunning coves and beaches of S’Algar, Alcaufar, Punta Prima, Son Ganxo, Biniancolla, Satalaia, Cala Torret, Binibeca, Binisafua (Binissafuller), Es Calo Blanc and Cap d’en Font.
Binibeca, arguably the most famous of all of the south coast areas is renowned for its traditional and picture-perfect whitewash fisherman’s houses, restaurants and beach. S’Algar is a popular place for water sports enthusiasts, especially scuba divers.
The town’s name reflects the past that Menorca has had, the name originating from the King of France, Louis XV (Menorca was under French rule in the 18th century).
Sant Lluis benefits from being a 5-minute car trip to the capital, Mahon, or in the opposite direction a 5 minute journey to some of the most stunning beaches on the south coast of the island. The town itself is quite flat, people are warm and welcoming and there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, ice cream parlours, banks and even a petrol station.
Additionally, Sant Lluis has its own aeroclub, where flying enthusiasts can take flying lessons, or just an aerial tour of the island. The main airport is a 10 minutes drive away from the town.
